Scuba Diving in Kaş for Beginners

May 3, 20261 min read

With clear, deep water, rich marine life and underwater cliffs, Kaş is ideal for diving. Visibility is excellent on most days, which makes it appealing to both experienced divers and beginners.

If you've never dived, dive centres offer a "try dive" (discover scuba). With an instructor and after a short briefing, you take your first breath underwater in shallow water. No certificate is needed; all you need is to be able to swim and to have no medical contraindications.

If you want to go further, a beginner course of a few days (for example an internationally recognised entry-level diving certificate) brings you to a level where you can dive independently. Around Kaş there are different sites such as reefs, caves, walls and even wrecks.

Safety comes first. Choose a licensed dive centre, make sure the equipment is well maintained, and follow your instructor's instructions to the letter. It's recommended not to fly on the same day after diving.

Tip: The diving season generally runs from spring to autumn. Water temperature is most comfortable in summer, but suitable equipment is available for every season.

Seeing Kaş underwater means discovering the town with completely new eyes; try it once and you'll probably want to dive again.
