The silence of Kekova still lives in me
We set out from Üçağız in an old boat and glided along the shore of the Sunken City. The water was so clear that I could make out the ancient steps and doorways just beneath the surface; I fell silent for a long while, thinking of the people who lived here thousands of years ago. As the captain told the history, the stones almost came alive. I climbed up to the castle on the hill at Kaleköy and looked out over the whole bay. I have travelled a great deal in my life, but no other place has given me Kekova's calm, timeless feeling. My tip for young travellers: take the early-morning boat, when the coves are still completely empty.
